Self-commodification, beauty ideals, a nonstop onslaught of information, our deeply human desire for community and connection and an utopian technology that might free us from our worries and fears…who actually benefits from all of this?
As @re4lgirl404, I embody different characters based on female* social media archetypes and current online discourses. I create moments of irritation within the endless doomscrolling of social media, explore identity and expectation in virtual spaces and reflecting on a system that enforces these roles. I distort my own body, my voice, my face – transform myself with the help of AI-based face and body filters using exaggeration and provoking the uncanny valley effect.
